Robert Dumas sent Juan Dumas this email in 2009:
Hi John -
Paris, France was wonderful. Maria and I had a great time as we stayed on the ile de St. Louis which is very close to Notre Dame Cathedral. The gardens and flowers were unbelievable, and I found the parisians very
friendly. Many locals commented on our last name, and how famous it is due to the author, Alexander. We noticed that Alexander's father, General Dumas' name is enscribed on the Arc de Triumphe since Napolean had the names of the generals under him placed on the Stone. I got to see my niece, Marta Dumas Romano when we were there, as she lives in Bordeaux and came up via train to see us, and we had a nice dinner.
Marta is Jorge Dumas Romano daugther (Jorge - my cousin passed away 4 years ago in Mexico City) and the grandparents are Marta and Jesus Romano. Great to see her.
We pretty much stayed in the city the entire trip, as Paris has so many things to see and enjoy. The food is #1.
I also learned that our great grandfather, Pierre Julian - lived in Marseille, which was a greek colony during the Roman times, so our name very well can be greek in origin. Many greeks have asked me if it is greek as well.
No other genealogy findings other than how proud I felt to be distantly associated with France and the very interesting history, culture, and atmosphere of Paris. We are planning a return to the southern region, along with quick stops in Spain and Northern Italy. (Maybe for our 25th anniversary?!!)
Let's stay in touch - I finally see where you fit within the family
tree...
Regards -
Robert Dumas (grandson of Cruz)

Question raised:
Robert: How did you determine that Pierre Julian Dumas was from Marseilles?

Question raised:
Robert: Do you think your niece, Marta, might be interested and in a position to do some genealogy footwork for us in France?
